No time 'wasted' here for our Bulky Waste and Pest Control Clients with the In Cab App!

Zipporah is excited to announce its latest functionality in the world of environmental services -  developing and launching an exciting new app that puts the power in your local environmental team’s hands (literally.) The fresh 'In Cab' solution app is tailored to support waste collection and pest control teams in efficiently managing their daily operations from their electronic devices with a new integration that links with our environment booking app.

For quite some time, we've observed a gap in these services provided by many councils – gone are the days of spreadsheets to manage these services for Zipporah clients. While we have been offering APIs for years to enable communications with ‘In Cab’ systems, these have been successfully utilised by numerous councils, including our client in Auckland. However, the 'in cab' aspect is often linked to the waste collection service provider, leaving councils managing their own bulky collection and pest services without a solution - unless they outsource. We felt it was necessary to develop our own solution to assist councils with a more cost-effective option during times of tight budgets.

For waste management, it enables the modification of details related to bulky item collections, green waste, etc. allowing users to capture photos, update booking statuses (collected, not collected due to goods not being out, etc.), all the while syncing this information with the system to promptly confirm appointments through emails. In pest control scenarios, it allows for documenting the placement of poisons, types used, and capturing images that is easy to use with minimal button presses for the driver. For both services, when the In Cab app downloads the day's collections/visits, it utilises Google Maps to plan the most efficient route and provides navigation instructions along the way.

With many clients operating in and around rural areas there was a key requirement to deliver an app that works efficiently regardless of location and potential signal issues – this resulted in the design of an app that operates offline and utilises threading to prevent appointment update delays, guaranteeing accurate and up-to-date information no matter where you are.

Following the successful launch of ‘In Cab’ with current clients, the next step for our environmental services is to enhance the app to allow customers to use it for their bookings, consolidating pest control, waste management, and recycling centres into one convenient environmental app.
